February 28, 1977, Philosophy major Jim Meyer splits 3 hits of Bi-Plane blotter acid with his room mate. Later that night Jim puts on Pink Floyds "Dark Side Of The Moon", at that same moment his roommate starts a video of "The Wizard Of Oz". The pair quickly realize the album and the movie synch up perfectly. After watching several times they discover hidden messages and a trail of clues that lead them to edge of hell. As they stand on the precipice and look down Jim says "Wow, it looks just like Wisconsin."

February 27, 1977, Royal Canadian Mounted Police raid Keith Richards Toronto hotel room and seize 22 grams of heroin and 5 grams of cocaine. Richards is arrested, charged with possession of heroin with intent to traffic and possession of cocaine. He is released on $25,000 bail. Trial is set for October, if convicted Richards could get life in prison. In the end the judge agreed to let Keith off with public service, he had to play a benefit concert for a charity. Keith put together a band that included Ron Wood, Stanley Clark and Bobby Keys, they call themselves "The New Barbarians". The boys have so much fun playing the show they decide to take the impromptu band on tour, at one show they back up Led Zeppelin.
DLAK note: I saw this band on this tour, we had third row they were wasted and it was great. The radio commercial they were running suggested that Mick Jagger might show up so everyone was anticipating Mick. When the concert was over and people realized there would be no Jagger the audience rioted and wrecked the place (Milwaukee arena) causing major damage and starting the place on fire as well as beating up some cops. There were many arrests but we got out by walking on the top edge of the seats. Now that's fucking rock and roll! LOL

Through The Dark by KT Tunstall
As I walk away I look over my shoulder
To see what I'm leaving behind
Pieces of puzzles
And wishes on eye lashes fail
Oh, how do I show
all the love inside my heart
for this is all new
And I'm feeling my way through the dark
I used to talk
With honest conviction
Of how I predicted my world
I'm gonna leave it to star gazers
Tell me what your telescope says
Oh, what is in store for me now
It's coming apart
I know that its true
As I'm feeling my way through the dark
Try to find a light on somewhere
I'm trying to find a light on somewhere
I'm finding I'm falling in love
with the dark over here
Oh, what do I know
I don't care where I start
For my troubles are few
as
I'm feeling my way though the dark
Through the dark
I'm feeling my way through the dark

February 26, 1990, Sinead O'Connor was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with" Nothing Compares 2 U". The song is off her second album " I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" It would be her biggest hit single. The song was written by Prince and arranged for Sinead by him. The track hit #1 in Ireland in July 1990 and remained there for eleven weeks; it is the eighth most successful single of the 1990's. It had similar success in the UK, charting at #1 for three weeks, In the USA it also claimed the #1 spot on the Hot 100 chart.
Nothing Compares 2 U
It's been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you been gone I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues`
Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
It's been so lonely without you here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby where did I go wrong
I could put my arms around every boy I see
But they'd only remind me of you
I went to the doctor n'guess what he told me
Guess what he told me
He said girl u better try to have fun
No matter what you'll do
But he's a fool`Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
all the flowers that you planted, mama
In the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing ...

February 25, 1966, Nancy Sinatra receives her first gold record for "These Boots Are made for Walkin'." Like most of her hits Boots was written and produced by Lee Hazlewood. Sinatra was encouraged by Hazlewood to sing the song as if she were a sixteen-year-old girl giving the brush-off to a forty-year-old man. The song was adopted by troops in Vietnam when they marched. Sinatra traveled there in the mid- to late-60s to perform for the US soldiers during USO tours. Before this song girls in rock were mostly cute and only interested in getting a boyfriend, "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" kicked open the doors for a whole new category of women in rock. Nancy's tough girl attitude preceded women's liberation and created the first rebel chick singer.
Over the years there have been many remakes of the song, my personal favorite is Megadeth's from the "Killing Is My business An business Is Good" LP. Lee Hazlewood demanded that the song be cut from the album due to its being a "perversion of the original".
These Boots Are Made For Walkin
You keep saying you've got something for me.
something you call love, but confess.

You've been messin'
where you shouldn't have been a messin'
and now someone else is gettin' all your best.
These boots are made for walking,
and that's just what they'll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.
You keep lying, when you oughta be truthin'
and you keep losin' when you oughta not bet.
You keep samin' when you oughta be changin'.
Now what's right is right, but you ain't been right yet.
These boots are made for walking,
and that's just what they'll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.
You keep playin' where you shouldn't be playin
and you keep thinkin' that you will never get burnt.
Ha!
I just found me a brand new box of matches
yeah
and what he knows you ain't HAD time to learn.
Are you ready boots?
Start walkin'!

February 24, 1992, Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love are married in Waikiki, Hawaii. Courtney was pregnant with the couples daughter (Frances Bean) at the time. Kurt and Courtney first met in 1989 at a Nirvana gig in Portland, Oregon. Courtney admitted that she was immediately attracted to Kurt. They would not become a couple until 1991 when Courtney sent Kurt a box full of twigs and dead leaves backstage during a Nirvana concert, Kurt said it was the sweetest thing anyone had given him. The pair were married on a cliff, Kurt was wearing pajamas and Courtney was wearing an old dress that once belonged to Seattle actress Frances Farmer. Kurt didn't want it to be a big ceremony, as he was afraid he would cry. At the end of the ceremony he cried.
Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana.
She eyes me like a Pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your Heart-Shaped box for weeks
I've been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
your advice ..
Man-eating orchids forgive no one just yet
Cut myself on Angel Hair and baby's breath
Broken Hymen of your highness
I'm left black
Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back...

Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)
The po-lice in New York City
They chased a boy right through the park
And in a case of mistaken identity
They put a bullet through his heart
Heart breakers
with your forty four
I wanna tear your world apart
You heart breaker
with your forty four
I wanna tear your world a part
A ten year old girl on a street corner
Sticking needles in her arm
She died in the dirt of an alleyway
Her mother said she had no chance,
no chance!
Heart breaker, heart breaker
She stuck the pins right in her heart
Heart breaker, pain maker
Stole the love right out of you heart
Heart breaker, heart breaker
You stole the love right out of my heart
Heart breaker, heart breaker
I wanna tear your world apart
Doo, doo doo doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo....

Bridge Over Troubled Waters by Simon and Garfunkle
When you’re weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I’m on your side. when times get rough
And friends just can’t be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
When you’re down and out,
When you’re on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
I’ll take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Sail on silver girl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

February 20, 1971, The soundtrack to Jesus Christ Superstar went to No.1 on the US album chart. Jesus Christ Superstar was written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, it depicts the last week of the life of Jesus but a large part of the plot focuses on the character of Judas who is depicted as an angry, conflicted, and tragic figure. The "rock opera" was first heard as an album before being staged on Broadway and later in London's West End. The first US staged version was actually performed in June of 1971 at Southold High School in New York by students of the school.
Superstar
Voice of Judas
Every time I look at you I don't understand
Why you let the things you did Get so out of hand
You'd have managed better If you'd had it planned
Now why'd you choose such a backward time And such a strange land?
If you'd come today You could have reached the whole nation
Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication
Don't you get me wrong Only want to know
Jesus Christ Jesus Christ Who are you?
What have you sacrificed?
Jesus Christ Jesus Christ Who are you?
What have you sacrificed? Jesus Christ Superstar
Do you think you're what they say you are?
Jesus Christ Superstar
Do you think you're what they say you are?
Tell me what you think About your friends at the top
Now who d'you think besides yourself Was the pick of the crop?
Buddha was he where it's at? Is he where you are?
Could Muhammad move a mountain Or was that just PR?
Did you mean to die like that? Was that a mistake
or Did you know your messy death Would be a record breaker?
Don't you get me wrong Only want to know
I only want to know Jesus Christ Jesus Christ Who are you?
What have you sacrificed?
Jesus Christ Superstar Do you think you're what they say you are?...

Silent Sea by KT Tunstall
I was happy in my harbour When you cut me loose
Floating on an ocean And confused
Winds are whipping waves up Like sky scrapers
And the harder they hit me The less I seem to bruise
Oh when I Find the controls I'll go where I like
I'll know where I want to be But maybe for now
I'll stay right here On a silent sea
On a silent sea

February 19, 1980, At the age of 33, Bon Scott goes out drinking with a friend in London. Later that night when they arrive back at their flat, Bon's friend leaves him passed out in the car. Bon chokes to death on his vomit, his friend finds him the next morning. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Kings College Hospital. Bon was on tour promoting AC/DCs first big hit "Highway To Hell". Scott was buried in Fremantle Cemetery. Fans are known to pay tribute to Scott by drinking at his gravesite. The National Trust of Australia has decreed his grave important enough to be included on the list of classified heritage places. After Bon's death Ozzy Osbourne said "Bon was one of the nicest guys I ever met. I really mean that. If he was an asshole I'd tell you. Im not just saying that because the poor guy is dead. He really was a lovely guy...It was a great loss."

"All the songs we do are basically about one of three things: booze, sex or rock n roll. It keeps you fit - the alcohol, nasty women, sweat on stage, bad food - it's all very good for you." - Bon Scott -
Highway To Hell by AC/DC
Living easy, living free
Season ticket on a one-way ride
Asking nothing, leave me be
Taking everything in my stride
Don't need reason, don't need rhyme
Ain't nothing I would rather do
Going down, party time
My friends are gonna be there too
I'm on the highway to hell
No stop signs, speed limit
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Like a wheel, gonna spin it
Nobody's gonna mess me round
Hey Satan, payin' my dues
Playing in a rocking band
Hey Momma, look at me
I'm on my way to the promised land
I'm on the highway to hell
(Don't stop me)
And I'm going down, all the way down
I'm on the highway to hell

February 18, 1995, At the age of 35 Bob Stinson (guitar) from The Replacements died from a drug overdose. The Replacements were famous for their drunken, chaotic concerts. When they played on Saturday Night Live the band was shitfaced drunk and barely able to stand up, they had to be bleeped because the lead singer said fuck. Bob had been fired from the band in 1986. Stinson was known to be extremely unpredictable on stage and would sometimes play wearing skirts, trash bags, or completely naked.
Hold My Life by The Replacements
Well, well, well I, found it's my life
Down on all fives
Let me crawl
If I want, I could dye...
my hair
Time for decisions to be made
Crack up in the sun, lose it in the shade
Razzle, dazzle, drazzle, drone,
time for this one to come home
Razzle, dazzle, drazzle, die,
time for this one to come alive
and hold my life until I'm ready to use it
Hold my life because I just might lose it
Because I just might lose it
Well, well, well, anyone could tell,
pass it off, a lucky shot
Ooh, they do hate 'em, someday soon,
face em
Razzle, dazzle...

Brain Damage by Pink Floyd
The lunatic is on the grass.
The lunatic is on the grass.
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
Got to keep the loonies on the path.
The lunatic is in the hall.
The lunatics are in my hall.
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
The lunatic is in my head.
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane.
You lock the door And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

Niggaz broke in the hood, worried about mines
Grown ass men, wearin starter piece shines

Your No Good
Feeling better now that we're through
Feeling better 'cause I'm over you
I learned my lesson, it left a scar
Now I see how you really are
You're no good
You're no good
You're no good
Baby you're no good
I'm gonna say it again
You're no good
You're no good
You're no good
Baby you're no good
I broke a heart that's gentle and true
Well I broke a heart over someone like you
I'll beg his forgiveness on bended knee
I wouldn't blame him if he said to me
You're no good
You're no good
You're no good
Baby you're no good
I'm gonna say it again
You're no good
You're no good
You're no good
Baby you're no good
I'm telling you now baby
and I'm going my way
Forget about you baby
'cause I'm leaving to stay
You're no good
You're no good
You're no good
Baby you're no good
I'm gonna say it again

Heavenly Arms by Lou Reed
Heavenly arms reach out to hold me
Heavenly arms entice you to dance
In a world of ill will, the dancers are still
Heavenly arms reach out to me
Heavenly arms soft as a love song
Heavenly arms bring a kiss to your ear
In a world that seems mad, all the dancers seem sad
Heavenly arms reach out to me
Sylvia
Sylvia
Sylvia
Sylvia
Heavenly arms come to my rescue
Only a woman can love a man
In a world full of hate, love should never wait
Heavenly arms reach out to me
Heavenly arms strong as a sunset
Heavenly arms pure as the rain
Lovers stand warned of the world's impending storm
Heavenly arms reach out to me...

February 13, 1976, Genesis released their first album since the departure of Peter Gabriel, 'A Trick Of The Tail'. It featured eight new tracks including "Dance On A Volcano", "Squonk" and "Robbery, Assault And Battery " with drummer Phill Collins taking on the role of lead vocalist. 'A Trick Of The Tail,' promptly outsold all of their previous releases. "A Trick Of The Tail" was a landmark album for the band, and it still stands today as one of their best.
Squonk by Genesis
Like father like son
Not flesh nor fish nor bone
A red rag hangs from an open mouth.
Alive at both ends but a little dead in the middle,
A-tumbling and a-bumbling he will go.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Could never put a smile on that face.
He’s a sly one, he’s a shy one
Wouldn’t you be too.
Scared to be left all on his own.
Hasn’t a, hasn’t a friend to play with,
the ugly duckling
The pressure on,
the bubble will burst before our eyes.
All the while in perfect time
His tears are falling on the ground
But if you don’t stand up you don’t stand a chance.
Go a little faster now, you might get there in time.
Mirror mirror on the wall,
His heart was broken long before he ever came to you.
Stop your tears from falling,
The trail they leave is very clear for all to see at night
All to see at night.
In season, out of season
What’s the difference when you don’t know the reason.
In one hand bread, the other a stone.
The hunter enters the forest.
All are not huntsmen who can blow the huntsman’s horn
By the look of this one you’ve not got much to fear.
Here I am, I’m very fierce and frightening
Come to match my skill to yours.
Now listen here, listen to me, don’t you run away now
I am a friend, I’d really like to play with you.
Making noises my little furry friend would make
I’ll trick him, then I’ll kick him into my sack.
You better watch out... you better watch out.
I’ve got you, I’ve got you, you’ll never get away.
Walking home that night
The sack across my back, the sound of sobbing on my shoulder.
When suddenly it stopped,
I opened up the sack, all that I had
A pool of bubbles and tears -
just a pool of tears.
All in all you are a very dying race
Placing trust upon a cruel world.
You never had the things you thought you should have had
And you’ll not get them now,
And all the while in perfect time
Your tears are falling on the ground.
The squonk is of a very retiring disposition
and due to it’s ugliness, weeps constantly.
it is easy prey for hunters who simply follow a tear-stained trail.
when cornered it will dissolve itself
Tears.
True or false?

Nothingman by Pearl Jam
Once divided...
nothing left to subtract...
Some words when spoken...
can't be taken back...
Walks on his own...
with thoughts he can't help thinking...
Future's above...
but in the past he's slow and sinking...
Caught a bolt 'a lightnin'...
cursed the day he let it go...
Nothingman...
Isn't it something?
Nothingman...
She once believed...
in every story he had to tell...
One day she stiffened...
took the other side...
Empty stares...
from each corner of a shared prison cell...
One just escapes...
one's left inside the well...
And he who forgets...
will be destined to remember...
oh...oh...oh...
Nothingman...
Isn't it something?
Nothingman...
Oh, she don't want him...
Oh, she won't feed him...
after he's flown away...
Oh, into the sun...ah,
into the sun...Burn...burn...
Nothingman...
Isn't it something?
Nothingman..
Nothingman...
Coulda' been something...

February 12, 1924, George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue premieres in New York. George agreed to write a jazz concerto for Paul Whiteman's latest program entitled "An Experiment in Modern Music". The song was played second to last on the program and the audience gave "Rhapsody in Blue" a standing ovation. This piece has gone on to become a standard in American music. He only had a few weeks to write it before the performance, most of the piece was composed (in his head) on a train journey to Boston , George later wrote
-" It was on the train, with its steely rhythms, its rattly-bang, that is so often so stimulating to a composer. I frequently hear music in the very heart of the noise... And there I suddenly heard, and even saw on paper the complete construction of the Rhapsody, from beginning to end. No new themes came to me, but I worked on the thematic material already in my mind and tried to conceive the composition as a whole. I heard it as a sort of musical kaleidoscope of America, of our vast melting pot, of our unduplicated national pep, of our blues, our metropolitan madness. By the time I reached Boston I had a definite plot of the piece, as distinguished from its actual substance." -

February 11, 1984, "Middle of the Road" by the Pretenders makes it to #19 on the pop chart. It was a song from their best album "Learning To Crawl."
Middle Of The Road
The middle of the road is trying to find me
I’m standing in the middle of life with my plans behind me
Well I got a smile for everyone I meet
As long as you don’t try dragging my bay
Or dropping the bomb on my street
Now come on baby
Get in the road
Oh come on now
In the middle of the road, yeah
In the middle of the road you see the darndest things
Like fat guys driving ’round in jeeps through the city
Wearing big diamond rings and silk suits
Past corrugated tin shacks full up with kids
Oh man I don’t mean a hampstead nursery
When you own a big chunk of the bloody third world
The babies just come with the scenery
Oh come on baby
Get in the road
Oh come on now
In the middle of the road, yeah
The middle of the road is no private cul-de-sac
I can’t get from the car to the curb
Without some little jerk on my back
Don’t harass me, can’t you tell
I’m going home, I’m tired as hell
I’m not the cat I used to be
I got a kid, I’m thirty-three
baby, get in the road
Come on now
In the middle of the road
Yeah

Her whole world's come undone
From looking straight at the sun
What did her daddy do
What did he put you through
They say when Janie was arrested
They found him underneath a train
But man, he had it comin'
Now that Janie's Got A Gun
She ain't never gonna be the same
Janie's Got A Gun
Janie's Got A Gun
Her dog day's just begun
Now everybody is on the run
Tell her now it's untrue
What did her daddy do
He jacked the little bitty baby
The man has got to be insane
They say the spell that he was under
The lightnin' and the thunder
Knew that someone had to stop the pain
Run away, run away from the pain...
What did her daddy do
It's Janie's last I.O.U.
She had to take him down easy
And put a bullet in his brain
She said 'cause nobody believes me
The man was such a sleeze
He ain't never gonna be the same
Run away, run away from the pain...

February 9, 1976, "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" by Paul Simon is at the top of the charts.
50 Ways To Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon
The problem is all inside your head", she said to me
The answer is easy if you take it logically
I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
She said it's really not my habit to intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning won't be lost
or misconstrued
But I'll repeat myself at the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover...
She said it grieves me so to see you in such pain
I wish there was something I could do to make you smile again
I said I appreciate that and would you please explain
About the fifty ways
She said why don't we both just sleep on it tonight
And I believe in the morning you'll begin to see the light
And then she kissed me and I realized she probably was right
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover
You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
...

Runaway by Del Shannon
As I walk alone I wonder
what went wrong with our love
A love that was so strong
And as I still walk on
I think of the things we've done
together
While our hearts were young
I'm walkin' in the rain
Tears are falling and I feel the pain
Wishing you were here by me
To end this misery and I wonder
I wawawawa wonder
Why
wawawawa why

she ran away
And I wonder were she will stay
My little runaway

February 7, 1940, Pinocchio premieres at the Center Theatre in Manhattan. It is the follow up to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. One critic called the show, "The happiest event since the war." The movie introduced the songs "When You Wish Upon A Star", Hi Diddle Dee (An actors life for me)" and "Give A Little Whistle".
Give A Little Whistle
When you get in trouble and you don't know right from wrong
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle!
When you meet temptation and the urge is very strong
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle!
Not just a little squeak, pucker up and blow
And if your whistle's weak, yell,
"Jiminy Cricket!"
Right!
Take the straight and narrow path And if you start to slide
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle!
And always let your conscience be your guide

Lemme lemme fuck ya fuck ya
Lemme lemme fuck ya fuck ya
Lemme lemme lick your lucky smiles

Just bring them on

Goddess on a mountain top
Was burning like a silver flame
The summit of Beauty in love
And Venus was her name
She's got it yeah,
Baby,
she's got it
Well,
I'm your Venus,
I'm your fire
At your desire
Her weapon were her crystal eyes
Making every man mad
Black as the dark night
she was
Got what no-one else had
Wa!

February 4, 1983, Karen Carpenter dies of cardiac arrest, caused by anorexia nervosa. She was 32 years old. Karen and her brother, Richard formed their band The Carpenters in the late 60's, they signed their first recording contract with A&M in April of 1969. They would be best remembered for the songs "(They Long to Be) Close to You" and "We've Only Just Begun". Both songs were played at over a billion weddings throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Richard played piano and wrote most of the songs Karen played the drums and sang, they received 3 Grammy Awards. At one low point in Karens career, she was forced to cancel a command performance before Queen Elizabeth II of England, due to the illness, she had dieted down to 90 pounds. Her funeral service took place on February 8th, at the United Methodist Church in Downey Calf. Karen Carpenter, dressed in pink, lay in an open white casket, and through an afternoon rain a thousand mourners passed through to say goodbye.
Karen once said We came out right in the middle of the hard-rock period... it was hard-rock everywhere! But we were ready to make our music, you know? And it was such a turnaround, I guess it caught people by surprise.
John Denver said after Karens death "They'll never be part of the Rock & Roll Hall of fame, but neither will I" .
Top Of The World by The Carpenters
Such a feelin's comin' over me
There is wonder in 'most ev'ry thing I see
Not a cloud in the sky, got the sun in my eyes
And I won't be surprised if it's a dream
Everything I want the world to be
Is now comin' true especially for me
And the reason is clear, it's because you are here
You're the nearest thing to heaven that I've seen
Somethin' in the wind has learned my name
And it's tellin' me that things are not the same
In the leaves on the trees and the touch of the breeze
There's a pleasin' sense of happiness for me
There is only one wish on my mind
When this day is through I hope that I will find
That tomorrow will be just the same for you and me
All I need will be mine if you are here
I'm on the top of the world lookin' down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around
Your love's put me at the top of the world

February 3, 1959, An airplane crash near Mason City, Iowa, kills Buddy Holly, J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper), and Ritchie Valens. Buddy had chartered the plane because the heater on the tour bus was broken and he was tired of freezing. Waylon Jennings was on the tour as Buddy’s bass player, he gave up his seat on the plane to Richardson because Richardson had a cold, upon hearing this Buddy looked at Waylon and said "I hope that old bus breaks down for you" and Waylon shot back "I hope your plane crashes". Ritchie Vanens and Tommy Allsup (who was also on the tour) both wanted a seat on the plane as well so they flipped a coin to see who would fly, Valens won.
Holly's headstone carries the correct spelling of his name, Buddy Holley. It also features a carving of his favorite guitar. His hometown, Lubbock has a life-size statue of Buddy as its centerpiece.
Chantilly Lace by The Big Bopper
Hello baby, yeah, this is the Big Bopper speaking
Oh you sweet thing
Do I what
Will I what
Oh baby you know what I like
Chantilly lace and a pretty face
And a pony tail hanging down
That wiggle in the walk and giggle in the talk
Makes the world go round
There ain't nothing in the world like a big eyed girl
That makes me act so funny, make me spend my money
Make me feel real loose like a long necked goose
Like a girl, oh baby that's what I like
What's that baby
But, but, but, oh honey
But, oh baby you know what I like
What's that honey
Pick you up at 8 and don't be late
But baby I ain't got no money honey
Oh alright baby you know what I like…

C,Mon Lets Go by Richie Valens
Well
Come on lets go lets go lets go little darlin'

Tell me that you'll never leave me
Come on Come on lets go again and again and again
Well
Now swing me swing me swing me way darling

Come on lets go little darlin'
Lets go lets go again once more
Well

Come along baby soon
Oh pretty baby I love you so
WELL

Lets go lets go lets go little sweet heart
Now that we can always be together
Come on come on lets go again

That’ll Be The Day by Buddy Holly
That’ll be the day

when you say goodbye that’ll be the day
when you make me cry
you say you’re gonna leave - you know it’s a lie
cause that’ll be the day when I die
Well, you give me all your loving
and your turtle-dovin’ all your hugs and kisses
and your money too,
we-hella
you know you love me baby
until you tell me maybe that someday well,
I’ll be through
When Cupid shot his dart
he shot it at your heart so if we ever part
and I leave you
you sit and hold me and you tell me boldly
that someday well, I’ll be blue

Keep On Lovin You by REO Speedwagon
You should’ve seen by the look in my eyes, baby
There was somethin missin
You should’ve known by the tone of my voice, maybe
But you didn’t listen
You played dead
But you never bled
Instead you lay still in the grass
All coiled up and hissin
And though I know all about those men
Still I don’t remember
Cause it was us baby, way before then
And we’re still together
And I meant, every word I said
When I said that I love you I meant
That I love you forever
And I’m gonna keep on lovin you
Cause it’s the only thing I wanna do
I don’t wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on lovin you
And I meant every word I said
When I said that I love you I meant
That I love you forever

February 1, 2004, 90 million people watch as Justin Timberlake exposes Janet Jackson's right tittie during the MTV-provided halftime show at the Superbowl. The incident took place at the end of a duet of the Timberlake song "Rock Your Body".
Excerpt from Rock Your Body
..." Got time but I don't mind
Just wanna rock you girl
I'll have whatever you have
Come on let's give it a whirl
See i been watchin' you
And I like the way you move
So go ahead, girl just do
That ass shakin'thing you do"...

DLAK note: I was more offended by the terrible song then the tittie.
