October 31, 1998, KISS starts their reunion tour with a Halloween party in Los Angeles. Thousands of concert goers attend dressed up as the different KISS members. The Smashing Pumpkins open the show. During the show Gene Simmons (wearing 6 foot platform shoes) spat fire, drooled blood, unfurled his tongue and flew like a winged demon, straight-up into the lighting trusses, to perform "God of Thunder". 3-D glasses are handed out at the door and giant video monitors broadcast the show in 3-D. The tour was billed as the Psycho-Circus Tour and would go on to be the second biggest money making tour (Rolling Stones had the number one) by any band ever.
God Of Thunder by KISS
You've got something about you
You've got something I need
Daughter of Aphrodite
Hear my words and take heed
I was born on Olympus
To my father a son
I was raised by the demons
Trained to reign as the one
God of thunder and rock and roll
The spell you're under
Will slowly rob you of your virgin soul
I'm the lord of the wastelands
A modern day man of steel
I gather darkness to please me
And I command you to kneel
Before the
God of thunder and rock and roll

October 29, 1976, Frank Zappa releases one of his finest albums, "Zoot Allures". The albums title track became Franks opening song for his live shows until he stopped touring. The album also features such Frank clasics as "Disco Boy", "Find Her Finer" and "Miss Pinky" ( a song about a inflatable sex doll).
'The Torture Never Stops' by Frank Zappa from the Zoot Allures LP.
Flies all green 'n buzzin' in his dungeon of despair
Prisoners grumble and piss their clothes and scratch their matted hair
A tiny light from a window hole a hundred yards away
Is all they ever get to know about the regular life in the day;
An' it stinks so bad the stones been chokin''N weepin' greenish drops
In the room where the giant fire puffer works'
N the torture never stops
The torture never stops
Slime 'n rot, rats 'n snot 'n vomit on the floor
Fifty ugly soldier men, holdin' spears by the iron door
Knives 'n spikes 'n guns 'n the likes of every tool of pain
An' a sinister midget with a bucket an' a mop where the blood goes down the drain;
Flies all green 'n buzzin' in his dungeon of despair
An evil prince eats a steamin' pig in a chamber right near there
He eats the snouts 'n the trotters first
The loin's 'n the groin's is soon dispersed
His carvin' style is well rehearsed
He stands and shouts
All men be cursed
All men be cursed
All men be cursed
All men be cursed
He's the best of course of all the worst
Some wrong been done, he done it first (Well, well)
An' he stinks so bad, his bones been chokin'
(Yeah) 'N weepin' greenish drops, (Well)
In the night of the iron sausage, (Well)
Where the torture never stops.
Flies all green 'n buzzin' in his dungeon of despair
Who are all those people that he's locked away up there
Are they crazy?,
Are they sainted?
Are they zeros someone painted?,
It has never been explained since at first it was created
But a dungeon like a sin
Requires naught but lockin' in
Of everything that's ever been
Look at hers
Look at him
That's what's the deal we're dealing in
That's what's the deal we're dealing in
That's what's the deal we're dealing in
That's what's the deal we're dealing in

October 28, 1893 - At the age of 53 Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky conducted his first public performance of his Symphony Number Six in B minor "Pathetique.
He started piano studies at the age of five and soon showed a remarkable gift. His mother died when he was 14, they say after this he composed day and night for some time.
He grew deeply depressed as he got older as he was not able to accept his homosexuality. He thought marrying a women could cure him but it only made things worse as he did not love his wife. Six weeks after their marriage he tried to commit suicide and she left him. They were never officially divorced.
The day after premiering "Pathetique" Tchaikovsky started taking small doses of arsenic. He did not want anyone to know it was suicide so his death was planned to be consistent with symptoms of cholera. His death took several days. His widow died in an insane asylum 24 years later.
"What I have set down in a moment of ardour I must then critically examine. Sometimes I must do myself violence before I can mercilessly erase things thought out with love." -Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky-

Aint Got No Home by Clarence Henry
I ain't got no home
No place to roam
I ain't got a home
No place to roam
I'm a lonely boy
I ain't got a home
I ain't got no sister
I ain't got a brother
I ain't got a father
Not even a mother
I'm a lonely boy
I ain't got a home
Woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo
Well, I got a voice
And I love to sing
I can sing like a bird
And I can sing like a frog
I'm a lonely boy
I ain't got a home
I ain't got a girl
I ain't got a son
I ain't got no kin
I ain't got no one
I'm a lonely frog
I ain't got a home
Woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo
Madam, take me in
Let me be your friend
Won't you take me in
Let me be your friend
I'm a lonely boy
I ain't got a home

October 26, 1976, "A Fifth of Beethoven," by 'Walter Murphy's Big Apple Band' goes gold. The albums title track would hit number one on the charts. The song is a disco rendition of Lundwig Beethoven's 'Symphony No. 5 In 'C' Minor'. Murphy studied jazz and classical piano at the Manhattan School of Music and was an arranger for Doc Severinsen and The Tonight Show Orchestra. Murphy played nearly every instrument on the record. The record company decided it would sell better if it was credited to a group rather than an individual. Without asking him they changed his name to Walter Murphy and The Big Apple Band, only to discover two days after its release that there was already a Big Apple Band. The name was changed to The Walter Murphy Band and then to Walter Murphy. His only other pop hit was a disco version of Flight Of The Bubblebee.

Living In America by James Brown
Super highways, coast to coast,
easy to get anywhere
On the transcontinental overload,
just slide behind the wheel
How does it feel
When there's no destination - that's too far
And somewhere on the way,
you might find out who you are
Living in America - eye to eye, station to station
Living in America - hand to hand, across the nation
Living in America - got to have a celebration
Rock my soul
Smokestack, fatback,
many miles of railroad track
All night radio, keep on runnin'
through your rock 'n' roll soul
All night diners keep you awake,
hey, on black coffee and a hard roll
You might have to walk the fine line,
you might take the hard line
But everybody's working overtime
I live in America, help me out,
but I live in America, wait a minute
You might not be looking for the promised land,
but you might find it anyway
Under one of those old familiar names
Like New Orleans, Detroit City,Dallas, Pittsburgh P.A.

New York City, Kansas City, Atlanta, Chicago and L.A
Living in America - hit me
Living in America - yeah,

October 23, 1995, Tone-Loc orders a pizza from Dominos, when the pizza arrives it has pepperoni instead of sausage. Tone Loc is so upset he attacks the delivery boy. He is arrested and eventually ordered to take an anger management class.
Funky Cold Medina by Tone Loc
Cold coolin at a bar, and I'm lookin for some action
But like Mike Jagger said, I can't get no satisfaction
The girls are all around, but none of them wanna get with me
My threads are fresh and I'm lookin def, yo, what's up with L-o-c?
The girls is all jockin at the other end of the bar
Havin drinks with some no-name chump, when they know that I'm the star
So I got up and strolled over to the other side of the cantinaI asked the guy,
"Why you so fly?" he said, "Funky Cold Medina"
Funky Cold Medina
This brother told me a secret on how to get more chicks
Put a little Medina in your glass, and the girls'll come real quick
It's better than any alcohol or aphrodisiac
A couple of sips of this love potion, and she'll be on your lap
So I gave some to my dog when he began to beg
Then he licked his bowl and he looked at me and did the wild thing on my leg
He used to scratch and bite me, before he was much much meaner
But now all the poodle's run to my house for the Funky Cold Medina
You know what I'm sayin?
I got every dog in my neighborhood breakin down my door
I got Spuds McKenzie Alex from Stroh's
They won't leave my dog alone with that Medina, pal
I went up to this girl, she said, "Hi, my name is Sheena"
I thought she'd be good to go with a little Funky Cold Medina
She said, "I'd like a drink," I said, "Ehm - ok, I'll go get it"
Then a couple sips she cold licked her lips, and I knew that she was with it
So I took her to my crib, and everything went well as planned
But when she got undressed, it was a big old mess, Sheena was a man
So I threw him out, I don't fool around with no Oscar Meyer wiener
You must be sure that the girl is pure for the Funky Cold Medina
You know, ain't no plans with a man
This is the 80's, and I'm down with the ladies
Ya know?
Break it down
Back in the saddle, lookin for a little affection
I took a shot as a contestant on The Love Connection The audience voted,
and you know they picked a winner
I took my date to the Hilton for Medina and some dinner
She had a few drinks, I'm thinkin soon what I'll be gettin
Instead she started talkin 'bout plans for our weddin
I said, "Wait, slow down, love, not so fast says, I'll be seein ya"
That's why I found you don't play around with the Funky Cold Medina
Ya know what I'm sayin
That Medina's a monster, y'all

You got mud on yo' face
You big disgrace
Kickin' your can all over the place
Singin' We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you
Buddy you're a young man hard man
Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day
You got blood on yo' face
You big disgrace
Wavin' your banner all over the place
We will we will rock you
Singin' We will we will rock you
Buddy you're an old man poor man
Pleadin' with your eyes gonna make you some peace some day
You got mud on your face
You big disgrace
Somebody better put you back into your place
We will we will rock you
Singin' We will we will rock you
Everybody

We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you
Alright
Ive paid my dues -Time after time -Ive done my sentence
But committed no crime -And bad mistakes Ive made a few
Ive had my share of sand kicked in my face -But Ive come through
Ive taken my bows And my curtain calls
You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it
I thank you all -But its been no bed of roses No pleasure cruise
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race
And I aint gonna lose -We are the champions - my friends
And well keep on fighting - till the end -We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers cause we are the champions - of the world

It Doesn't Matter Anymore by Buddy Holly
There you go and baby here am I
Well you left me here so I could sit and cry
Well -Golly gee what have you done to me
Well I guess It Doesn't Matter Any More
Do you remember baby last September
How you held me tight each and every night
Well whoops a daisy how you drove me crazy
But I guess It Doesn't Matter Any More
There's no use me a crying
I've done every thing and now I'm sick of trying
I've thrown away my nights and wasted all my days
Over you
Well you go your way and I'll go mine
Gone forever till the end of time
I'll find somebody new and baby
We'll say we're through
And you Won't Matter Any More

October 20, 1977, Lynyrd Skynyrd were on their way to a show in Louisiana when their plane crashed, killing band members Ronnie VanZant, and Steve Gaines. The crash also took the lives of Gaines sister Cassie, one of the three backing singers, and manager Dean Kilpatrick, the rest of the band was seriously injured.
The pilot of the chartered Convair 240 airplane radioed that the craft was dangerously low on fuel. Less than ten minutes later, at 6:42 PM the plane crashed into a densely wooded thicket in the middle of a Mississippi swamp. The plane cut a 500 foot path through the swamp.
Their latest album 'Street Survivors' was released three days earlier and would turn out to be one of the bands biggest hits. The picture on the cover of the album showed the band engulfed in flames, the album was pulled from the shelves immediately and the cover was redesigned (without the flames).
Ronnie was laid to rest with his trademark Texas Hatters black hat and favorite fishing pole. Charlie Daniels sang 'Amazing Grace' standing in front of the rose-covered brass coffin, The minister told the mourners that Ronnie was not dead; that he lived on in heaven in spirit and on earth in song.
One More Time by Lynyrd Skynyrd
How can you stand there smilin' After all you've done
You know it seems to make you happy When you've hurt someone
Twice before you fooled me With your deceivin' and lyin'
Come in and close the door One more time
Yeah you've been gone so long No one knows where
And you say that you still love me Then show me you care
'Cause you got what it takes sweet mama To make a man feel fine
So I'll take the word of a liar One more time
Girl you've got me hungry Losin' my mind
I know I'm playin' with fire Get burned everytime
Yes I'm a fool for you baby I can't deny
But I got to have your sweet love
One more time
Girl you've got me hungry Losin' my mind

I know I'm playin' with fire I get burned everytime
Yes I'm a fool for you mama I can't deny
But I got to have your sweet love One more time
Yes I'm her fool once more I can read her brown eyes

But when the rooster crows tomorrow Well its her turn to cry
I'm headed down that old road She lost her free ride
So tonight I'll take what I paid for One more time
One more time

It eventually makes it to number one on the R&B charts and will be Smokey Robinson & the Miracles biggest hit in 8 years, and their first hit since changing their name from the Miracles to Smokey Robinson And The Miracles. They were from Detroit Michigan and recorded for Motown. Bob Dylan once called Smokey one of America's greatest poets.
I Second That Emotion by Smokey Robinson And The Miracles
Maybe you want to give me kisses sweet
But only for one night with no repeat
Maybe you'd go away and never call
And a taste of honey is worse than none at all
Oh little girl, in that case I don't want no part
That would only break my heart
Oh, but if you feel like loving me
If you got the notion
I second that emotion
Said,
if you feel like giving me
A lifetime of devotion
I second that emotion
Maybe you think that love would tie you down
You ain't got the time to hang around
Maybe you think that love was made for fools
So it makes you wise to break the rules
Oh little girl,
in that case I don't want no part
That would only break my heart
Oh, but if you feel like loving me
If you got the notion
I second that emotion
Well, if you feel like giving me

A lifetime of devotion
I second that emotion...

Tunnel is a reflection on the many faces of love and relationships. Bruce wrote most of the songs while going through the breakup of his first marriage. The album would sell 3 million copies (in the US) as opposed to the 15 million Born In The USA sold.
One Step Up by Bruce Springsteen
Woke up this morning my house was cold
Checked the furnace she wasn't burnin'
Went out and hopped in my old Ford
Hit the engine but she ain't turnin'
We've given each other some hard lessons lately
But we ain't learnin'
We're the same sad story that's a fact
One step up and two steps back
Bird on a wire outside my motel room
But he ain't singin'
Girl in white inside a church in June
But the church bells they ain't ringing
I'm sittin' here in this bar tonight
But all I'm thinkin' is
I'm the same old story same old act
One step up and two steps back
It's the same thing night on night
Who's wrong baby who's right
Another fight and I slam the door
Another battle in our dirty little war
When I look at myself I don't see
The man I wanted to be
Somewhere along the line I slipped off track
I'm caught movin' one step up and two steps back
There's a girl across the bar I get the message she's sendin
'Mmm
she ain't lookin' to marry
And me well honey I'm pretending
Last night I dreamed I held you in my arms
The music was never-ending
We danced as the evening sky faded to black
One step up and two steps back

Pissing In The River by Patti Smith
Pissing in a river, watching it rise
Tattoo fingers shy away from me
Voices voices mesmerize Voices voices beckoning sea
Come come come come back come back Come back come back come back
Spoke of a wheel, tip of a spoon Mouth of a cave, I`m a slave I`m free.
When are you coming ? Hope you come soon Fingers, fingers encircling thee
Come come come come come come Come come come come come come for me oh
My bowels are empty, excreting your soul What more can I give you ?
Baby I don`t know What more can I give you to make this thing grow?
Don`t turn your back now, I`m talking to you
Should I pursue a path so twisted ?
Should I crawl defeated and gifted ?
Should I go the length of a river [The royal, the throne, the cry me a river]
Everything I`ve done, I`ve done for you
Oh I give my life for you. Every move I made I move to you,
And I came like a magnet for you now.
What about it, you`re gonna leave me,
What about it, you don`t need me,
What about it, I can`t live without you,
What about it, I never doubted you
What about it ? What about it ? What about it ? What about it ?
Should I pursue a path so twisted ?
Should I crawl defeated and gifted ?
Should I go the length of a river, [The royal, the throne, the cry me a river]
What about it, what about it, what about it ?
Oh, I`m pissing in a river.

October 15, 1971, At the age of 31 years, Rick Nelson was booed off the stage when he didn't play all oldies at the seventh Annual Rock n Roll Revival show at Madison Square Garden, New York. He tried to slip in some of his new material and the crowd did not approve. Nelson was one of the biggest of the '50s teen idols and his fans did not approve of his new image. The negative reaction to his performance inspired Nelson to write his last top-10 hit, Garden Party, which hit number 6 about a year after the Madison Square Garden show.
Garden Party by Ricky Nelson
I went to a garden party to reminisce with my old friends
A chance to share old memories and play our songs again
When I got to the garden party, they all knew my name
No one recognized me, I didn't look the same
But it's all right now, I learned my lesson well.
You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself
People came from miles around, everyone was there Yoko brought her walrus,
there was magic in the air 'n' over in the corner, much to my surprise
Mr. Hughes hid in Dylan's shoes wearing his disguise
Played them all the old songs, thought that's why they came
No one heard the music, we didn't look the same

I said hello to "Mary Lou",
she belongs to me When I sang a song about a honky-tonk,
it was time to leave
Someone opened up a closet door and out stepped Johnny B. Goode
Playing guitar like a-ringin' a bell and lookin' like he should
If you gotta play at garden parties, I wish you a lotta luck
But if memories were all I sang, I rather drive a truck
it's all right now, learned my lesson well

You see, ya can't please everyone,
so you got to please yourself

I Got Rhythm from Girl Crazy
Days can be sunny,With never a sigh ; Don't need what money can buy.
Birds in the tree sing Their dayful of song, Why shouldn't we sing along?
I'm chipper all the day, Happy with my lot .How do I get that way?
Look at what I've got :
I got rhythm
I got music
I got my man/girl
Who could ask for anything more ?
I got daisies
In green pastures,
I got my man/girl
Who could ask for anything more ?
Ol'Man Trouble , I don't mind him .You won't find him
'Round my door.

I got starlight
I got sweet dreams,
I got my man/girl,

October 13, 2003, Rap superstar 50 Cent was the big winner at the World Music Awards in Monaco, taking home five prizes including best-selling artist of the year. Born Curtis Jackson and raised in Southside Jamaica, Queens, 50 grew up in a broken home. His mother passed away when he was eight (she died during a drug deal), and his father soon after, leaving his grandmother to parent him. 50 lived everything most rappers lie about: drugs, crimes, imprisonments, stabbings, and shootings (they say he has been shot 9 times). After several encounters with the law and prison he turned toward rap and away from crime. In 2002 Eminem signed 50 to a seven-figure contract and orchestrated his quick rise toward success. 50 Cent will be starring in the semi-autobiographical film called Get Rich Or Die Tryin which will be released November 9, 2005.
Excerpt from Fat Bitch from Get Rich Or Die Tryin
"Them Twinkies got your ass gettin' fat fat
Them cookies got your ass gettin' fat fat
That cake got your ass gettin' fat fat
Bitch you grown, that ain't baby fat fat
In the gym I see your ass up on the stair master
But you got it on level 2, bitch go a little faster
Look girl I ain't gon lie, I'll tell you how I feel
They should hand cuff your big ass to the treadmill
You wanna work out now, cause you know its gettin' hot
And your big ass fin to pop all up out the halter top
Find the right chick, wearing some tight shit, and it's on
See your ass wearing some tight shit, we like "She wrong"
Don't be stuck on the things they say
now you know it's a nasty world (know it's a nasty world)
I ain't fuckin wit you anyway
cause I know your a nasty girl - You's a nasty girl
(know your a nasty girl)
I ain't never gon discriminate
so let me compliment your eyes
(compliment my eyes)
Yeah, you got some nice eyes, but you's a big bitch man
Yeah, It's nothin' but a little baby phat phat

Calypso by John Denver (This song has been on 17 different albums)
To sail on a dream on a crystal clear ocean
To ride on the crest of a wild raging storm
To work in the service of life and the living
In search of the answers to questions unknown
To be part of the movement and part of the growing
Part of beginning to understand
Like the dolphin who guides you
You bring us beside you
To light up the darkness and show us the way
For though we are strangers in your silent world
To live on the land we must learn from the sea
To be true as the tide
And free as the wind-swell
Joyful and loving in letting it be
Aye, calypso, the places you've been to
The things that you've shown us
The stories you tell
Aye, calypso, I sing to your spirit
The men who have served you
So long and so well

October 11, 1963, Edith Piaf died in Paris, France. Her life story has been embellished over the years with rumor and anecdote so even after various biographies, its facts and its fictions are often blurred. It is however certain that her earliest years were marked by dire poverty and struggle. Born in 1915, at the age of 15 she struck out on her own as a street-singer, by 1935 she graduated to cabaret and in December of 35 recorded her first record. The peak of Piaf's stardom spanned the immediate post-war decade 1945-1955. World renown came her way following her 1947 American tour. Piaf appeared in several movies, starring in Le Bel Indiffrent (1940).
Bad English translation...

The eyes that make mine lower
A laughter that gets lost on his mouth
There is the portrait without retouchings
Of the man which I belong to
When he takes me in his arms
He speaks me all bottom
I see life in rose (pink)
He tells me words of love
The words of every day
And that made me something
He entered in my heart
A part of happiness
Of which I know the reason
It is he for me, me for him, in life
He told it to me
it swore him for life
And as soon as I see him
Then I feel in me
My heart that beats
Of love nights more to finish
A big happiness that takes his room
Boredoms, griefs fade away
Happy, happy to die
When he takes me in his arms
He speaks me all bottom
I see life in rose (pink)
He tells me of love words
The words of every day
And that made me something
He entered in my heart
A part of happiness
Of which I know the reason
It is you for me, me for you, in life
You told it\the ace juror\for life, to me
And as soon as I see you
Then I feel in me
My heart that beats

October 10, 1970, Black Sabbath had their first No.1 album with their second release 'Paranoid'. The album is now widely regarded as one of the classic Heavy Metal albums of all time. This album gave to the world the songs 'Paranoid', 'War Pigs' and 'Iron Man'.
The band Named themselves after a 1930’s Boris Karlof movie called Black Sabbath. Despised by rock critics and ignored by radio programmers, the group sold over eight million albums before Ozzy Osbourne departed for a solo career in 1979. Black Sabbath is and was the heavy-metal king.
War Pigs by Black Sabbath
Generals gathered in their masses,
just like witches at black masses.
Evil minds that plot destruction,
sorcerers of death's construction.
In the fields the bodies burning,
as the war machine keeps turning.
Death and hatred to mankind,
poisoning their brainwashed minds.
Oh lord, yeah!
Politicians hide themselves away.
They only started the war.
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor,
yeah.
Time will tell on their power minds,
making war just for fun.
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
wait till their judgement day comes,
yeah.
Now in darkness world stops turning
ashes where the bodies burning.
No more War Pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour.
Day of judgement, God is calling,
on their knees the war pigs crawling
Begging mercies for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
Oh lord, yeah!

If I Ever Lose This Heaven by Quincy Jones
If you're foolin', only foolin'
All I ask is "Why?
If you're playin', all I'm sayin'
Is feelings sure collide
If you're lyin', keep on lyin'
Don't tell the truth, don't you dare
You can't drop me, 'cause you still got me
After takin' me way up there Oh, oh, oh, oh
If I ever lose this heaven
If I ever, ever, ever lose this heaven
Whoa,
I'll never be the same
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
If I ever lose this heaven
If I ever, ever, ever lose this heaven
Whoa,
I'll never be the same
When you're kind, extra kind
Then suddenly you're crossed
You're so moody, you get to me
Still can't turn you off
You're fascinating, more fascinating
Than the dark side of the moon
You're so exciting, that I'm re-writing
The book of love called "You"
Oh, oh, oh, oh
If I ever lose this heaven
If I ever, ever, ever lose this heaven
Whoa, I'll never be the same

October 8, 1971, "Imagine" was recorded by John Lennon. The song has become an anthem for world peace, but Lennon himself was later dismissive of it, claiming he had "sugar coated" his message.
Imagine by John Lennon
Imagine there's no heaven, It's easy if you try,
No hell below us, Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people living for today...
Imagine there's no countries, It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for, No religion too,
Imagine all the people living life in peace...
Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people Sharing all the world...
You may say Im a dreamer, but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one

October 6, 1978, Jesse Jackson claims The Rolling Stones are racist because of the lyrics to their hit song "Some Girls". Jackson calls for the Stones to change the lyrics. Mick Jagger calls for Jesse Jackson to "piss Off"
Some Girls by The Rolling Stones
Some girls give me money
Some girls buy me clothes

Some girls give me jewelry
That I never thought I'd own
Some girls give me diamonds
Some girls, heart attacks
Some girls I give all my bread to
I don't ever want it back
Some girls give me jewelry
Others buy me clothes
Some girls give me children
I never asked them for
So give me all your money
Give me all your gold
I'll buy you a house back in Zuma beach
And give you half of what I own
Some girls take my money
Some girls take my clothes
Some girls get the shirt off my back
And leave me with a lethal dose
French girls they want Cartier
Italian girls want cars
American girls want everything in the world
You can possibly imagine
English girls they're so prissy
I can't stand them on the telephone
Sometimes I take the receiver off the hook
I don't want them to ever call at all
White girls they're pretty funny
Sometimes they drive me mad
Black girls just wanna get fucked all night
I just don't have that much jam
Chinese girls are so gentle
They're really such a tease
You never know quite what they're cookin'
Inside those silky sleeves
Give me all you money
Give me all your gold
I'll buy you a house back in Zuma beach
And give you half of what I own
Some girls they're so pure
Some girls so corrupt
Some girls give me children
I only made love to her once
Give me half your money
Give me half your car
Give me half of everything
I'll make you world's biggest star by half
So gimme all your money
Give me all your gold
Let's go back to Zuma beach
I'll give you half of everything I own

Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin
Oh Lord, wont you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, wont you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
Oh Lord, wont you buy me a color TV?
Dialing For Dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until three,
So oh Lord, wont you buy me a color TV?
Oh Lord, wont you buy me a night on the town?
Im counting on you, Lord, please don't let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round,
Oh Lord, wont you buy me a night on the town?
Everybody!
Oh Lord, wont you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends,
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So oh Lord, wont you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
that's it!

October 3, 1967, Woody Guthrie dies in New York at the age of 55. He had been suffering from Huntington's disease for ten years. At an early age Woody was influenced by the blues singers of the time. At the beginning of his carrier he had a comedy act as a goofy hillbilly. When he started to travel across America he started writing protest songs and became the voice of the American left. Guthrie championed labor unions and anti-fascist communism.
He hung a sign on his guitar that said "This machine kills fascists" moved by his passion against fascism, during World War II, Woody served in both the Merchant Marine (He shipped out three times and was torpedoed twice) and the Army.
Woody suffered from bouts with alcoholism and madness, he was married three times and had 7 children including Arlo Guthrie.
Woody wrote over a thousand songs, most of which were never recorded. At one time he wrote for a communist paper and his face was put on a US postal stamp.
He is best known for the song "This Land Is Your Land". He wrote the song to show his distaste for the Irving Berlin anthem "God Bless America". Although "This Land" is now a patriotic anthem it didn't start that way. Over the years we have forgotten some of the original lyrics.
This Land Is Your Land by Woody Guthrie
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf stream waters,
[God blessed America for me.]
As I went walking that ribbon of highway
And saw above me that endless skyway,
And saw below me the golden valley, I said:
[God blessed America for me.]
I roamed and rambled and followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts,
And all around me , a voice was sounding:
[God blessed America for me.]
Was a high wall there that tried to stop me
A sign was painted said: Private Property,
But on the back side it didn't say nothing --
[God blessed America for me.]
When the sun come shining, then I was strolling
In wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling;
The voice was chanting as the fog was lifting:
[God blessed America for me.]
One bright sunny morning in the shadow of the steeple
By the Relief Office I saw my people --
As they stood hungry, I stood there wondering if
[God blessed America for me.]

October 2, 1995, "Jagged Little Pill" Alanis Morissette's debut album reaches the top of the Billboard charts. The album was released on the Maverick label, founded by Madonna.
YOU LEARN by Alanis Morissette
I recommend getting your heart trampled on to anyone
I recommend walking around naked in your living room
Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill)
It feels so good (swimming in your stomach)
Wait until the dust settles
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
I recommend biting off more then you can chew to anyone
I certainly do
I recommend sticking your foot in your mouth at any time
Feel free Throw it down (the caution blocks you from the wind)
Hold it up (to the rays)
You wait and see when the smoke clears
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
Wear it out (the way a three-year-old would do)
Melt it down (you're gonna have to eventually anyway)
The fire trucks are coming up around the bend
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
You grieve you learn
You choke you learn
You laugh you learn
You choose you learn
You pray you learn
You ask you learn
You live you learn
