December 12, 1985, Ian (Stu) Stewart dies at the age of 47. Ian was a founding member of The Rolling Stone's pre-dating both Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman but was not allowed be pictured on the albums because the Stones management thought he looked to old. He served as the Stones road manager for most of their tours. Ian was a talented blues/boogie-woogie piano player and played on many important records for many 60s and 70s rock bands including Howlin' Wolf, Led Zeppelin, and Pete Townshend. Led Zeppelins song "Boogie With Stu" is named after him. In the late 1970s Stewart formed a traditional boogie-woogie jazz band called Rocket 88 with fellow Stone Charlie Watts on drums, Alexis Korner on guitar, and Cream founder Jack Bruce on acoustic bass. Ian Stewart died of a heart attack in his doctor's Harley Street waiting room.
Dear Doctor by The Rolling Stones
Oh help me, please doctor, Im damaged
there's a pain where there once was a heart
Its sleepin, its a beatin
Cant ya please tear it out, and preserve it
Right there in that jar?
Oh help me, please mama, Im sickning
Its today thats the day of the plunge
Oh the gal Im to marry
Is a bow-legged sow
Ive been soakin up drink like a sponge
Dont ya worry, get dressed, cried my mother
As she plied me with bourbon so sour
Pull your socks up, put your suit on
Comb your long hair down,
for you will be wed in the hour
So help me, please doctor, Im damaged
Theres a pain where there once was a heart
Im sleepin, its a beatin
Cant ya please take it out, and preserve it
Right there in that jar?
Oh help me, please doctor, Im damaged
Theres a pain where there once was a heart
Its sleepin, its a beatin
Cant ya please tear it out, and preserve it
Right there in that jar?
I was tremblin, as I put on my jacket
It had creases as sharp as a knife file
I put the ring in my pocket
But there was a note
And my heart it jumped into my mouth
It read, darlin, Im sorry to hurt you.
But I have no courage to speak to your face.
But Im down in Virginia with your cousin Lou
There be no wedding today.
So help me, please doctor, Im damaged
You can put back my heart in its hole
Oh mama, Im cryin
Tears of relief
And my pulse is now under control

December 11, 1961, Elvis Presley's "Blue Hawaii" album goes to #1. It stayed #1 for 20 weeks and had the mega hit "Cant Help Falling In Love With You".
Cant Help Falling In Love With You
Wise men say only fools rush in
but I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes some things are meant to be
take my hand, take my whole life too
for I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes some things are meant to be
take my hand, take my whole life too
for I can't help falling in love with you
for I can't help falling in love with you

December 9, 1968, Backstage, before a concert in New Haven, Jim Morrison gets into a verbal spat with a policeman after the cop questions the age of a girl Jim was kissing. Jim tells the cop "eat it" and the cop maces Jim in the face. Jim was allowed to take the stage and during the instrumental break of "Back Door Man" Jim told the audience what had happened back stage. He asked if this was the United States Of America and told how a little man in a blue suit had sprayed him with mace. By the end of the song a cop came on stage and told Jim he was under arrest. Jim shoved the microphone in the cops face and said "speak your peace pig" at that point another officer came out and they pulled Jim off stage and arrested him for "breach of peace", "resisting arrest" and "performing an indecent and immoral exhibition".
Back Door Man by Willie Dixon
Wha, yeah!, cmon, yeah, yeah, cmon, yeah
Yeah, cmon, oh, yeah, ma
Yeah,
Im a back door man,
Im a back door man
The men dont know, but the little girl understand
Hey, all you people that tryin to sleep
Im out to make it with my midnight dream,
yeah
cause Im a back door man,
the men dont know
But the little girls understand,
all right, yeah
You men eat your dinner, eat your pork and beans
I eat more chicken, than any man ever seen,
yeah, yeah
Im a back door man,
wha,
the men dont know
But the little girl understand
Well, Im a back door man
Im a back door man
Whoa, baby, Im a back door man
The men dont know
But the little girls understand

Damageplan was Darrells new band after having left Pantera. A nearby Policeman returned fire and shot Gale dead.
Fuck You by Damageplan
Fuck you I'm through
I want nothing more from you
My sanity is wearing thin
Irate, I hate
You determined your own fate
Now everything is caving in
Fuck your power trip and
Fuck your attitude
and
Fuck your bloated ego too
Fuck your history, your tragedy, your misery
But most of all...fuck you!
Fuck this, all of this
Bitch and moan and bleed and piss
Seconds away from goin' down
Go ahead and push me
Your fakery, your butchery
Is nothing compared to my hate for you
Fuck your apathy and
Fuck your empathy and
Fuck your nihilism, too
Fuck your bitter pills, take 'em all,
you never will
But most of all...fuck you!
Nothing changes, nothing fazes, nothing stays the same
Fuck your power trip and
Fuck your attitude and
Fuck your bloated ego too
Fuck your history, your tragedy, your misery
But most of all...motherfucker
fuck you!

December 7, 1973 Wings release "Band on the Run". The record contained 2 big hits "Jet" and its title track, "Band On The Run". It reached #1 in the US and is considered to be one of Paul McCartney's best solo albums.
Band On The Run by Wings
Stuck inside these four walls, sent inside forever,
Never seeing no one nice again like you,
Mama you, mama you.
If I ever get out of here,Thought of giving it all away
To a registered charity.

All I need is a pint a day
If I ever get out of here.
Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash as we fell into the sun,
And the first one said to the second one there
I hope your having fun.
Band on the run, band on the run.
And the jailer man and sailor Sam were searching every one
For the band on the run, band on the run, band on the run, band on the run
Well, the undertaker drew a heavy sigh seeing no one else had come,
And a bell was ringing in the village square for the rabbits on the run.
Band on the run, band on the run.
And the jailer man and sailor Sam, were searching every one
For the band on the run, band on the run, band on the run, band on the run
Well, the night was falling as the desert world began to settle down.
In the town they're searching for us every where, but we never w ill be found.
Band on the run, band on the run
And the county judge, who held a grudge
Will search for evermore
For the band on the run, band on the run, band on the run, band on the run

December 6, 1954, "Mr. Sandman" goes to number one on the charts. It would be the Chordettes only number one, they had a top 20 hit a few years later with the song "Lollipop". The Chordettes were originally from Sheboygan, Wisconsin, they were discovered by Arthur Godfrey in 1949 and became regulars on his radio show 'Talent scouts'.
Mr. Sandman by The Chordettes
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him two lips like roses and clover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him the word that I'm not a rover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.
Mr. Sandman
"Yes"
bring us a dream
Give him a pair of eyes with a come-hither gleam
Give him a lonely heart like Pagliacci
And lots of wavy hair like Liberace
Mr Sandman, someone to hold
Would be so peachy before we're too old
So please turn on your magic beam
Mr Sandman, bring us,
please, please, please
Mr Sandman, bring us a dream.

December 5, 1993, Guitarist, Douglas Hopkins (Gin Blossoms) shoots himself in the head at his home in Tempe, Ariz. He is 32 years old at the time of his death. Hopkins was fired from the band the previous year because of his drinking habit. He died broke even though he wrote the hits "Hey Jealousy" and "Found Out About You", the Gin Blossoms did not pay his royalties.
Hey Jealousy by The Gin Blossoms
Tell me do you think itd be all right
If I could just crash here tonight
You can see Im in no shape for driving
And anyway I've got no place to go
And you know it might not be that bad
You were the best Id ever had
If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago
I might not be alone
Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone but something might be found
To take its place...
hey Jealousy
And you can trust me not to think
And not to sleep around
If you don't expect too much from me
You might not be let down
Cause all I really want is to be with you
Feeling like I matter too
If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago
I might be here with you
Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone but something might be found
To take its place...
hey Jealousy
She took my heart
there's only one thing I couldn't start

Post Toastee by Tommy Bolin
Well my mind has been overflowin
bout some things that don't seem right.
And my gun is cocked and loaded,
I hope I get me some sleep tonight.
Well I don't know what went wrong,
It seems like nuthin' is right.
Well I don't know what went wrong,
I hope I get me some sleep tonight.
So take it nice and easy,
Leave the coals in the pit.
Don't let your mind post-toastee,
Like a lot of my friends did.
Just keep me out of L.A.,
Things are crazy out there.
From people that I been meetin',
Seems I got to beware.

December 2, 1998, Shania Twain changed her hair color from brunette to blonde.
That Don't Impress Me Much by Shania Twain
I've known a few guys who thought they were pretty smart
But you've got being right down to an art
You think you're a genius
you drive me up the wall
You're a regular original, a know-it all
Oh-oo-oh, you think you're special
Oh-oo-oh, you think you're something else
Okay, so you're a rocket scientist
That don't impress me much
So you got the brain but have you got the touch
Don't get me wrong, yeah I think you're alright
But that won't keep me warm in the middle of the night
That don't impress me much
I never knew a guy who carried a mirror in his pocket
And a comb up his sleeve
just in case
And all that extra hold gel in your hair oughtta lock it
Cause Heaven forbid it should fall outta place
Oh-oo-oh, you think you're special
Oh-oo-oh, you think you're something else
Okay, so you're Brad Pitt
That don't impress me much
So you got the looks but have you got the touch
Don't get me wrong, yeah I think you're alright
But that won't keep me warm in the middle of the night
That don't impress me much
You're one of those guys who likes to shine his machine
You make me take off my shoes before you let me get in
I can't believe you kiss your car good night
C'mon baby tell me-you must be jokin', right!
Oh-oo-oh, you think you're special
Oh-oo-oh, you think you're something else
Okay, so you've got a car
That don't impress me much
So you got the moves but have you got the touch
Don't get me wrong, yeah I think you're alright
But that won't keep me warm in the middle of the night
That don't impress me much
Okay, so what do you think you're Elvis or something...
Oo-Oh-Oh
That don't impress me much!
Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh-No
Alright! Alright!
You're Tarzan!
Captain Kirk maybe
John Wayne.
Whatever!

So beat it, just beat it

Don't wanna see no blood, don't be a macho man
You wanna be tough, better do what you can
So beat it, but you wanna be bad
Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it Just beat it, beat it
They're out to get you, better leave while you can
Don't wanna be a boy, you wanna be a man
You wanna stay alive, better do what you can
So beat it, just beat it
You have to show them that you're really not scared
You're playin' with your life, this ain't no truth or dare
They'll kick you, then they beat you, Then they'll tell you it's fair
So beat it, but you wanna be bad
Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right Just beat it,
beat it Beat it, beat it, beat it Beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or who's right
