Raining In My Heart by Buddy Holly
The sun is out - the sky is blue
there’s not a cloud to spoil the view but it’s raining
raining in my heart
The weather man says clear today
he doesn’t know you’ve gone away and it’s raining
raining in my heart
Oh, misery - misery what’s gonna become of me
I tell the blues they musn’t show
but soon these tears are bound to flow cause
it’s raining
raining in my heart
But it’s raining
raining in my heart
And it’s raining
raining in my heart

Dig A Pony by The Beatles
I dig a pony
Well you can celebrate anything you want
Well you can celebrate anything you want
Ooh.
I do a road hog
Well you can penetrate any place you go
Yes you can penetrate any place you go
I told you so, all I want is you
Ev'rything has got to be just like you want it to
Because--
I pick a moon dog
Well you can radiate ev'rything you are
Yes you can radiate ev'rything you are
Ooh.
I roll a stoney
Well you can imitate ev'ryone you know
Yes you can imitate ev'ryone you know
I told you so,
all I want is you.
Ev'rything has got to be just like you want it to
Because--
I feel the wind blow
Well you can indicate ev'rything you see
Yes you can indicate ev'rything you see
Ooh.
I dug a pony
Well you can syndicate any boat you row
Yes you can syndicate any boat you row

January 29, 1979, Troubled teenager Brenda Spencer killed two people and wounded nine others when she fired into the entrance of San Diego's Grover Cleveland Elementary School. Spencer used the .22-caliber rifle that her father had given her for Christmas. When asked why she did it, she answered "I don't like Mondays". The Boomtown Rats went on to write and record a song based on the event. It became the Rats' second million seller in England and was voted 1979s "Single of the Year" in the British Pop and Rock awards.
I Dont Like Mondays by The Boomtown Rats
The silicon chip inside her head
Gets switched to overload,
And nobody's gonna go to school today,
She's going to make them stay at home,
And daddy doesn't understand it,
He always said she was as good as gold,
And he can see no reason
Cos there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be shown
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
I want to shoot
The whole day down
The Telex machine is kept so clean
As it types to a waiting world,
And Mother feels so shocked,
Father's world is rocked,
And their thoughts turn to their own little girl
Sweet 16 ain't that peachy keen,
No, it ain't so neat to admit defeat,
They can see no reasons
Cos there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be shown
Tell me why ...
All the playing's stopped in the playground now
She wants to play with her toys a while
And school's out early and soon we'll be learning
And the lesson today is how to die,
And then the bullhorn crackles,
And the captain crackles,
With the problems and the how's and why's
And he can see no reasons
Cos there are no reasons
What reason do you need to die
Tell me why ...

January 28, 1985, More than 40 artists gather at A&M's Hollywood studios to record ``We Are the World'' under the collective name ``USA for Africa.'' Proceeds from the single go toward worldwide hunger prevention. The song was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and the all star cast included Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Daryl Hall, John Oates, Cyndi Lauper, Steve Perry, Bob Geldof, Jim Morrison, Charlie Manson, Richard Nixon, Sid Dithers, Satan, Jesus, Cat Stevens and some dumb bitch. The money raised by the project will feed the entire world forever and that is why there is no hunger left in the world today.
We Are The World
There comes a time When we head a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying And it's time to lend a hand
to life The greatest gift of all
We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of God's great big family And the truth,
you know love is all we need
We are the world We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me Send them your heart
So they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand
When you're down and out There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well,
let us realize That a change will only come
When we stand together as one
blah blah blah......

January 27, 1971, David Bowie arrived in the US for the first time. However he couldn't play live because of work permit restrictions. He did wear a dress to the press conference, prompting one of the locals to say "Jesus Christ, look at that faggot, we ought to kick his ass" when Bowie heard this he ran away like a little girl. In 1972 Bowie declared that he was bisexual , to which everyone said "oh, we would have never guessed."
Cracked Actor by David Bowie
I've come on a few years from my Hollywood Highs
The best of the last, the cleanest star they ever had
I'm stiff on my legend, the films that I made
Forget that I'm fifty cause you just got paid
Crack, baby, crack, show me you're real
Smack, baby, smack, is that all that you feel
Suck, baby, suck, give me your head
Before you start professing that you're knocking me dead
You caught yourself a trick down on Sunset and Vine
But since he pinned you baby
you're a porcupine
You sold me illusions for a sack full of cheques
You've made a bad connection 'cause I just want your sex

January 26, 1984, Michael Jackson is hospitalized with scalp burns after a spark ignites his hair during filming of a TV commercial. The 25-year-old entertainer was singing his hit "Billie Jean" for the Pepsi Cola commercial in Los Angeles when there was a special effects malfunction. Three thousand fans saw a firework display erupt behind the superstar, showering him in sparks and setting fire to his hair. Michael was paid 7 million dollars for the commercial. A popular joke at the time was - Did you hear that Michael Jackson and Richard Pryor have founded a new charity? They are calling it "The Ignited Negro College Fund!"
Billie Jean by Michael Jackson
She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
She said I am the one who will dance on the floor in the round
She told me her name was Billie jean, as she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do cause the lie becomes the truth

For forty days and for forty nights The law was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand Her schemes and plans
Cause we danced on the floor in the round
So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice
(Do think twice)
She told my baby,we where dancing still 3:00
Then she looked at me, she show me a photo
My baby cried, cause his eyes where like mine
People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls hearts
She came and stood right by me
Then the smell of sweet perfume
This happened much too soon
She called me to her room
Billie jean is not my lover
she's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
Billie jean is not my lover
she's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one,
but the kid is not my son
She says I am the one,
but the kid is not my son
Billie jean is not my lover...

My Sunday Feeling by Jethro Tull
My Sunday feeling is coming on over me.
My Sunday feeling is coming on over me,
Now that the night is over.
Got to clear my head so I can see.
Till I get to put together, that old feeling won't let me be.
Won't somebody tell me where I laid my head last night?
Won't somebody tell me where I laid my head last night?
I really don't remember,
But with one more cigarette and I think I might.
Till I get to put together, well that old feeling can't get me right.
Need some assistance, have you listened to what I said?
Need some assistance, have you listened to what I said?
Oh, I don't feel so good.
Need someone to help me to my bed.
Till I get to put together, that old feeling is in my head.

Make Me Smile by Chicago.
Children play in the park, they don’t know
I’m alone in the dark, even though
Time and time again I see your face smiling inside
I’m so happy
That you love me
Life is lovely
When you’re near me
Tell me you will stay
Make me smile
Living life is just a game so they say
All the games we used to play fade away
We may now enjoy the dreams we shared so long ago
Oh my darling
Got to have you
Feel the magic
When I hold you
Cry sweet tears of joy
Touch the sky
Now I need you more than ever.
No more crying - we're together
Tell me you will stay.
Make me smile

January 22, 1959, Alone with his guitar and a tape recorder Buddy Holly sits on his couch and records a handful of songs, he was working on his first solo album. The songs taped this day, include "Peggy Sue Got Married," "Crying, Waiting, Hoping," "That's What They Say," "What to Do," "Learning the Game" "That Makes it Tough, and Dearest (ummm, Oh Yeah). These recordings will become known as the apartment tapes, they were overdubbed posthumously and released by Coral Records. The original tapes are also available on bootlegs. These recordings can best be described as haunting and in my opinion a couple of the songs represent his best work.
Dearest (Ummm, Oh Yeah)
Dearest, though you're the nearest to my heart
Please don't ever
ummm yeah
ever say we'll part
You scold, and you are so bold
Yes together
ummm yeah
our love will grow old
Ummm yeah
our love will grow old
You may-ay-ay-ay
be a million miles away
Please believe me
ummm yeah
when you hear me say
I love you,
I love you
Come ho-o-o-ome,
keep me from these sleepless nights
Try my love again
ummm yeah
I'm gonna treat you right,
ummm yeah,
I'm gonna treat you right

Owner Of A lonely Heart by Yes
Move yourself
You always live your life
Never thinking of the future
Prove yourself
You are the move you make
Take your chances win or loser
See yourself
You are the steps you take
You and you -
and that's the only way
Shake shake yourself
You're every move you make
So the story goes
Owner of a lonely heart

Owner of a lonely heart
Much better than - a
Owner of a broken heart
Owner of a lonely heart
Say you don't want to chance it
You've been hurt so before
Watch it now
The eagle in the sky
How he dancin' one and only
You lose yourself
No not for pity's sake
There's no real reason to be lonely
Be yourself
Give your free will a chance
You've got to want to succeed
After my own decision

They confused me so
My love said never question your will at all
In the end you've got to go
Look before you leap
And don't you hesitate at all -
Owner of a lonely heart...

Little Dolls by Ozzy
Wrything and screaming The pain just won't go
He'll show you no mercy
Your image in his hands It's useless to try
Escaping his curses
The pins and needles Prick the skin of little dolls.
Tortured and flaming You give birth to hell
Living a nightmare
It's a pity You'll pray for your death
But he's in no hurry
The pins and needles Prick the skin of little dolls.
No where to run Your fate is in his hands
Your time has come You'll live to his command
I'm warning you The worst is yet to come
The killer who Remains a mystery
I that believe in the stories of old
Would never fight it
Demons and curses that play on our soul
Like something ignited
You never imagined such a fate could follow you
You never thought it was true
And when it's your time I wonder how you'll do
Your kind of trouble's
running deeper than the sea
You broke the world
You've been a fool
The little doll is you
yeah!

January 18, 1981, Wendy O'Williams of The Plasmatics was arrested on stage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was charged with the offence of Conduct Prohibited on Licensed Premises, Resisting Arrest, and Battery. During the concert Wendy cut up some of the PA system with a chian saw, simulated anal sex with a sledgehammer and she masturbated with the microphone. Her manager punched a cop while they were trying to arrest her so he was also arrested. Wendy went kicking and screaming, dressed only in a thong and electrical tape over her nipples. At one of her next concerts she blew up a car painted to look like a Milwaukee police car.
Your A Zombie by Wendy O'Williams
Got a TV brain and a pixel head
You walk and talk but you are dead
You just came down from the trees
Now I got you on your knees
You don't know what's going on
I can turn you off or turn you on
Drive your car around the square
You're moving fast but you go nowhere
I'm inside your DNA
You can't make me go away
You're a zombie honey
We done consumed your brain
Can you tell the difference
Or do you feel the same?
Now you're a fascist robot
Just like you were before
We can press your buttons
And have a robot war
All you do is fuck and eat
That's what we do too
Tough for you 'cause you're our meat
But we don't make the rules
Not only will we drink your blood
We're gonna suck your head
There isn't much to think about
'Cause soon you will be dead...

Hangin' up and hangin' down.
Hangin' in and holdin' fast.

January 16, 1988, 182,000 people in Rio De Janeiro showed up to watch Tina Turner live in concert. It is the largest audience ever for a single artist. Accompanied by a stunning line-up of musicians, Samba dancers, glitter and fireworks, Tina played 13 songs and blew the crowd away with explosive versions of "What's Love Got to Do With It" , "Addicted to Love" and "Proud Mary". This show was part of her "Break Every Rule Tour", by the end of the tour she had performed for 4 and a half million people.
What's Love Got To Do With It by Tina Turner
You must understand
That the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it`s only the thrill
Of boy meeting girl
Opposites attract
It`s physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore
That it means more than that
Oh whats love got to do, got to do with it
What`s love but a second hand emotion
What`s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart
When a heart can be broken
It may seem to you
That i`m acting confused
When you`re close to me
If i tend to look dazed
I`ve read it someplace
I`ve got cause to be
There`s a name for it
There`s a phrase that fits
But whatever the reason
You do it for me
I`ve been thinking of a new direction
But i have to say
I`ve been thinking about my own protection
It scares me to feel this way
What`s love got to do, got to do with it...

Just a few years before his death Harry's financial adviser embezzled all the money he had ever made as a recording artist. Harry was once asked for some advice on how to stay happy he said "Have babies! Have lots of babies! They're wonderful!"
Everbodys Talkin At Me by Harry Nilsson
Everybody's talking at me.
I don't hear a word they're saying,
Only the echoes of my mind.
People stopping staring,
I can't see their faces,
Only the shadows of their eyes.
I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Thru' the pouring rain,
Going where the weather suits my clothes,
Backing off of the North East wind,
Sailing on a summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone.

Manic Depression by Jimi Hendrix.
Manic depression is touching my soul
I know what I want but I just don’t know
How to, go about gettin’ it
Feeling sweet feeling,
Drops from my fingers, fingers
Manic depression is catchin’ my soul
Woman so weary, the sweet cause in vain
You make love, you break love
It’s all the same
When it’s, when it’s over, mama
Music, sweet music
I wish I could caress, caress, caress
Manic depression is a frustrating mess
Well, I think I’ll go turn myself off,
And go on down
All the way down
Really ain’t no use in me hanging around
In your kinda scene

I wish I could caress, caress, caress

When you sit there addressing,
counting your blessings
Biding your time
When you lay me down sleeping
and my heart is weeping
Because Im keeping a place
For all the lost children...

Chain Of Fools by Aretha Franklin
Chain, chain, chain,
chain of fools
Five long years I thought you were my man
But I found out I'm just a link in your chain
You got me where you want me
I ain't nothing but your fool
You treated me mean oh you treated me cruel
Chain, chain, chain,
chain of fools
Every chain has got a weak link
I might be weak child,
but I gave you strength
You told me to leave you alone
My father said come on home
My doctor said take it easy
Whole bunch of lovin is much too strong
I'm added to your chain,
Chain, chain, chain, chain,
Chain, chain of fools
One of these mornings the chain is gonna break
But up until then, yeah,
I'm gonna take all I can take
Chain, chain, chain,
chain, chain, chain
Chain, chain, chain,
chain of fools

You'll Be Gone by R. West, E. Presley and C. Hodge.
Sweetheart we're alone
And you are mine
Let's make this night a night to remember
Don't make our love a cold dying ember
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
Hold me close in your arms as the night withers away
Let's not waste one precious kiss while we're together
Oh please come to my arms and say you'll love me forever
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
Sweetheart when you're near
My heart is aflame
Your lips pressed on mine is heaven descending
And I could die because it is ending
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
Let these passions we feel in our hearts never end
I could never share this feeling with another
Oh please say that you feel the same knowing no other
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
For with the dawn, you'll be gone

January 7, 1994, Nirvana plays the first of two shows at the Seattle Arena. It will be the band's last two U.S. concerts. The band would play for just under two hours and included some of their greatest songs, they ended with an encore of "Heart-Shaped Box" and "Blew"
Blew by Nirvana
If you wouldn't mind I would like it blew
If you wouldn't mind I would like it loose
If you wouldn't care I would like to leave
If you wouldn't mind I would like to breathe
Is there another reason for your stay
Could you believe him when you discussed his stain?
Here is another word that rhymes with shame
If you wouldn't mind I would like it blew
If you wouldn't mind I would like it loose
If you wouldn't care I would like to bleed
If you wouldn't mind I would like to breathe.
Is there another reason for your stay
Could you believe him when you discussed his stain?
Here is another word that rhymes with shame
You could do anything

January 6, 1975, One thousand Led Zeppelin fans waiting overnight for tickets to the group's February 4th concert, trash the lobby of the Boston Garden. They cause $30,000 damage breaking seats and doors. There are many arrests for drugs and for being drunk in public. The Ocean by Led Zeppelin
Singing in the sunshine, laughing in the rain
Hitting on the moonshine, rocking in the grain
Ain't no time to pack my bag,
my foots outside the door
Got a date, I can't be late,
for the high hopes hailla ball.
Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean's roar
Play for free, play for me and play a whole lot more,
more!
Singing about good things
and the sun that lights the day
I used to sing on the mountains,
has the ocean lost it's way.
Sitting round singing songs 'til the night turns into day
Used to sing on the mountains
but the mountains washed away
Now I'm singing all my songs to the girl who won my heart
She is only three years old and it's a real fine way to start

The Beat Goes On by Sonny Bono
The beat goes on, the beat goes on.
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain.
La de da de de, la de da de da.
Charleston was once the rage, uh huh.
History has turned the page, uh huh.
The miniskirt's the current thing, uh huh.
Tennyboppers our newborn king, uh huh.
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on.
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain.
La de da de de, la de da de da.
The grocery store's the supermart, uh huh.
Little girls still break their hearts, uh huh.
And men still keep on marching off to war.
Electrically they keep a baseball score.
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on.
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain.
La de da de de, la de da de da.
Grandmas sit in chairs and reminisce
Boys keep chasing girls to get a kiss.
The cars keep going faster all the time.
Bums still cry 'Hey buddy, have you got a dime?'
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on.
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain.
La de da de de, la de da de da

January 4, 1970, Keith Moon got drunk at a pub in Hatfield, England and picked a fight with a gang of skinheads. While trying to escape Moon jumped in his car and accidentally ran over his body guard Neil Boland. Boland was killed instantly, Moon was brought before the High Court of London on charges of vehicular manslaughter. The charges were filed to determine Moon's role in the death. Although the death was ruled an accident and Moon was subsequently acquitted of any wrongdoing, those close to him said Moon was haunted by the accident for the rest of his life. Moon stated, "I'll always have his death on my conscience."
The Real Me by The Who
I went back to the doctor
To get another shrink.
I sit and tell him about my weekend,
But he never betrays what he thinks.
Can you see the real me, doctor?
I went back to my mother
I said, "I'm crazy ma, help me."
She said, "I know how it feels son,
'Cause it runs in the family."
Can you see the real me, mother?
The cracks between the paving stones
Look like rivers of flowing veins
Strange people who know me
Peeping from behind every window pane.
The girl I used to love
Lives in this yellow house.
Yesterday she passed me by,
She doesn't want to know me now.
Can you see the real me, can you?
I ended up with the preacher,
Full of lies and hate,
I seemed to scare him a little
So he showed me to the golden gate.
Can you see the real me preacher?
Can you see the real me doctor?
Can you see the real me mother?
Can you see the real me?

January 3, 1970, Today the song "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" by B.J. Thomas (Born Billy Joe Thomas in 1942) topped the charts and stayed there for 4 weeks. Raindrops was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for the hit film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". It would be B.J.s biggest hit.
Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'
So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'
But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me' Cause
I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me

January 2, 1997, Randy California (Spirit) was swimming with his family off the coast of Molokai, HI, when he and his 12-year-old son Quinn were caught in a riptide. Randy succeeded in pushing his son to shore, but he was swept out to sea, and his body was never recovered.
Natures Way by Spirit
It's nature's way of telling you something's wrong
It's nature's way of telling you in a song
It's nature's way of receiving you
It's nature's way of retrieving you
It's nature's way of telling you
Something's wrong
It's nature's way of telling you, summer breeze
It's nature's way of telling you, dying trees
It's nature's way of receiving you
It's nature's way of retrieving you
It's nature's way of telling you
Something's wrong
It's nature's way, it's nature's way
It's nature's way, it's nature's way

January 1, 1953
, Hank Williams plane flight was canceled because of a blizzard, An 18-year-old taxi driver (Charles Carr) was hired to drive Williams Cadillac to Canton, Ohio. Hank passed out in the back seat. A policeman who stopped the car for ignoring speed restrictions remarked, 'That guy looks dead'. Five hours later, Carr discovered that Hank was indeed dead. At the time of his death his latest hit working its way up the charts was "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive."
I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive by Hank Williams Now you're lookin' at a man that's gettin' kind-a mad
I had lot's of luck but it's all been bad
No matter how I struggle and strive
I'll never get out of this world a-live.
My fishin' pole's broke the creek is full of sand
My woman run away with another man
No matter how I struggle and strive
I'll never get out of this world alive.
A distant uncle passed away and
left me quite a batch
And I was livin'g high until that fatal day
A lawyer proved I wasn't born
I was only hatched.
Ev'rything's agin' me and it's got me down
If I jumped in the river I would prob'ly drown
No matter how I struggle and strive
I'll never get out of this world alive.
These shabby shoes I'm wearin' all the time
Are full of holes and nails
And brother if I stepped on a worn out dime
I bet a nickel I could tell you if it was heads or tails.
I'm not gonna worry wrinkles in my brow'
Cause nothin's ever gonna be alright no how
No matter how I struggle and strive
I'll never get out of this world alive.

Reminds Me Of You by VanMorrison
I miss you so much,
I can’t stand it
Seems like my heart,
is breaking in two
My head says no
but my soul demands it
Everything I do,
reminds me of you
I miss you so much,
in this house full of shadows
While the rain keeps pouring down,
my window too
When will the pain, recede to the darkness
From whence it has come,
and I’m feeling so blue
Ain’t goin’down,
no more to the well
Sometimes it feels like,
I’m going to hell
Sometimes I’m knocking,
on your front door
But I don’t have nothing,
to sell no more
Seems like the spirit,
is pushing me onwards
I’m able to see,
where I tripped and went wrong
I’ll just have to guess,
where my soul will find comfort
And I miss you so much,
when I’m singing my song
Ain’t goin’ down,
no more to the well
And sometimes it seems,
I’m going to hell
You’ll find me knocking,
on your front door
But I don’t have nothing,
to sell no more
Seems like my spirit,
is pushing me onwards’
til I’m able to see where,
I tripped when I went wrong
I’ll just have to guess,
where my soul will get comfort
I miss you so much,
when I’m singing my song
I miss you so much,
I can’t stand it
Seems like my heart
is breaking in two
My head says no,
but my soul demands it
And everything I do,
reminds me of you
Everything I do,
reminds me of you
Everything I do,
reminds me of you
