This day in music history.

June 18, 1977, Johnny Rotten and Paul Cook of The Sex Pistols were stabbed and beaten by a gang of angry pro-royalists in a car park outside a London pub. During the attack Rotten was stabbed in the leg and his wrist tendons were severed. He later said "there's always some drunk with a bottle who wants to out-rotten Rotten."
