June 10, 1990, Members of 2 Live Crew were arrested in Florida for performing songs from their "As Nasty As They Wanna Be album". The album had been ruled "obscene" by a federal judge who declared it illegal to perform and to sell. A local record store owner was arrested two days later, after selling a copy to an undercover police officer. Every one was eventually acquitted of all charges and the obscenity ruling was overturned. The album would sell over two million copies and peaked at number 29 on the charts.
