This day in music history.

June 2, 1999, Junior Braithwaite was shot dead at the age of 46. Along with Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Livingston and Beverley Kelso he formed the legendary reggae band The Wailers in 1963. Junior was the lead singer for the Wailers but he quit after only a year to move to the USA. He was murdered while visiting the home of a local musician in Kingston, Jamaica. The crime was never solved.
