This day in music history.

October 23, 1964, David (Harold) Box and all the members of the band Buddy and the Kings were killed when the Cessna Skyhawk they were traveling in (piloted by the bands drummer Bill Daniles) crashed nose first killing all on board. After the death of Buddy Holly, The Crickets used various lead singers on their records. One was David Box who sang lead on the Crickets' recording of "Peggy Sue Got Married". Box had hired the Buddy and the Kings band to do a few gigs with him to promote his new song " Little Lonely Summer Girl"
