This day in music history.

July 20, 1968, Iron Butterfly's second album debuts on the U.S. charts. "In-a-Gadda-da-Vida", featuring the 17-minute title track would stay on the chart for the rest of the year. The song "In-a godda- da- vida" (with 2 and a half minute drum solo) made it to number 30 on the pop chart. Some consider Iron Butterfly to be the first heavy metal band and In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" is considered to be the song that ushered in the era of acid rock.
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
In-a-gadda-da-vida honey,
don'tcha know that I love you?
In-a-gadda-da-vida baby,
don'tcha know that I'll always be true?
Oh won'tcha come with me,
and take my hand?
Oh won'tcha come with me,
and walk this land?
Please take my hand...Let me tell ya now.
In-a-gadda-da-vida honey,
don'tcha know that I love you?
In-a-gadda-da-vida baby,
don'tcha know that I'll always be true?
Oh won'tcha come with me,
and take my hand?
Oh won'tcha come with me,and walk this land?
Please take my hand...Let me tell ya.
Two,three,four!
In-a-gadda-da-vida honey,
don'tcha know that I love you?
In-a-gadda-da-vida baby,
don'tcha know that I'll always be true?
