This day in music history.

May 13, 2003, Tommy Chong of Cheech & Chong pleaded guilty to selling drug paraphernalia over the Internet. His company was busted as part of Attorney General John Ashcroft's "Operation Pipe Dreams." "Tommy was sentenced to 9 months in jail, a year's probation, a $20,000 fine, and forfeiture of $103,000. Ashcroft said. "The drug paraphernalia business is now accessible in anyone's home with a computer and Internet access. And in homes across America we know that children are the fastest growing Internet users. Quite simply, the illegal drug paraphernalia industry has invaded the homes of families across the country without their knowledge. This illegal billion-dollar industry will no longer be ignored by law enforcement." John Brown, Acting Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration said "People selling drug paraphernalia are in essence no different than drug dealers, they are as much a part of drug trafficking, as silencers are a part of criminal homicide." Chong later said "I know Dick Cheney's Secret Service guys smoke pot, the reason I know that is I sold them bongs."
DLAK note: Since Chongs arrest and conviction there is no longer a drug problem in America and pot use has virtually stopped. Our children are finally safe.
Up In Smoke by Cheech And Chong
Up in smoke
Thats where my money goes
In my lungs
and sometimes up my nose
When troubled times
Begin to bother me
I take a toke

and all my cares
Go up in smoke
Up in smoke
Donde todos es mi rey
There are no signs
Que dice no fumer
So I roll un "bomber"
Y me doy, un buen toke-ay Y despues
I choke
Y todos mis cares
Go up in smoke
Come on let's go get high
Up in smoke
That's where I wanna be
'Cause when I'm high
The world below
Don't bother me
When life begins
To be one long
and dangerous road
I take a toke
and all my cares
Go up in smoke
