This day in music history.

December 8, 1980, A retarded little fat man asks John Lennon for his is autograph. John signs a copy of his new album (Double Fantasy) for the retard. John looked the man in the eyes and asked him three times if there was something else he could do for him, the retard just shook his head. Later that night Lennon was returning to his apartment building with Yoko Ono from a recording session (they had just finished recording the song "Walking On Thin Ice" ) the fat little retard was waiting in the shadows and he shot John dead, Lennon was 40 years old. Lennon was shot in his chest, back and left arm. After shooting him the retard took out a copy of the Catcher In The Rye and just stood there reading until the police arrested him. He was found to be insane and is locked away in a psychiatric hospital. During an interview in 1967 John was asked how he expected to die, Lennon's answer was "I'll probably be popped off by some loony."
Excerpt from Walking On Thin Ice by John and Yoko
I may cry some day
But the tears will dry whichever way
And when our hearts return to ashes
It'll be just a story
It'll be just a story

Watching The Wheels by John Lennon, from the Double Fantasy album.
People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin
When I say that I'm o.k. well they look at me kind of strange
Surely you're not happy now you no longer play the game
People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away

Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me
When I tell them that I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball
I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round

I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
Ah, people asking questions lost in confusion

Well I tell them there's no problem, only solutions
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind
I tell them there's no hurry
I'm just sitting here doing time
I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round

I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
