This day in music history.

December 7, 1967, Otis Redding records "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay". Redding was killed three days later in a plane crash. Upon its release Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay, went to number one.
Dock Of The Bay by Otis Redding
Sitting in the morning sun
I'll be sitting till the evening comes
Watching the ships roll in
Then I watch them roll away again, yeah
Sitting on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Oh, sitting on the dock of the bay
Wasting time,
I left my home in Georgia
And headed for Frisco Bay'
Cause I have nothing to live for
And look's like nothins gonna come my way
So, I'm sitting on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
I'm sitting on the dock of the bay
Wasting time
Look's like nothing's gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I cant do what 10 people tell me to do
So, I guess I'll remain the same
Sittin' here resting my bones,
And this lonelinessss won't leave me alone,
Two thousand miles I've roamed,
Just to make this dock my home.
Sitting on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away,
ooohh ooohh
Sitting on the dock of the bay
Wasting time
