This day in music history.
March 27, 1917, The Original Dixieland Jazz Band (All white guys!) recorded the first "JAZZ" record. Its called "Livery Stable Blues". The song would sell a million copies (and in those days that was a lot of records) and helped launch "Jazz" as a popular style of music. 67 years later Frank Zappa would say "Jazz isnt dead, It just smells funny".
