March 22, 1972,
John Mellencamp while on a photo safari in Africa saved a young native boy.A large cougar was stalking the boy when John threw his Nikon camera and hit the cat in the head and killed it. The boy was screaming " Omgatau Omgatau" which means cougar in the native tongue .And that is how John Omgatau Mellencamp got his name.
